About Me.
Hello! I'm Dani Perez, a director, stagehand, and technician based in New York. I grew up in Miami, Florida and every since I was I child I have loved the feelings that stories are able to pull out of me. Since high school, I have really enjoyed revisiting classic stories, from Julius Caesar to The Crucible. And my obsession with putting on and adapting those stories has yet to let up since then. I really love theatre when its raw, and I find that classical stories like Antigone present us with the most stripped down and vulnerable representations of human nature. I wish to bring all of these older tales back and present them to modern audiences in a way that they will not only understand but also feel viscerally. I enjoy shows and art that transform the space that you are in- in a way that you can't help but get sucked in and stand alongside these characters (no matter what year they're from.)
Education
2022-2026
Bachelors in Directing, minor in Film and Screen Studies
Pace University
I have spent the past four years studying the techniques and history of those before me as well as honing my skills in directing. I've trained my skills not only through scene assignments in class but also through showcases and assistant directing assignments for mainstages and films at Pace University.
For much of my time at Pace I have also worked as a Production Student Aide and therefore have had a hand in putting up almost all the shows, in regards to lights, scenic, and sound, since I have been there.
